CASE STUDIES looks at how we experience institutional objects and investigates institutional methods of three-dimensional display. The pedestal, the vitrine, and various incarnations of both have been designed and redesigned to unobtrusively showcase other objects. In addition to creating and defining space, these structures also formalize other objects. Similar to the role of figure studies as preparatory drawings to hone observational and technical skills, discern ideal proportions, and plan for final compositions, CASE STUDIES exhibits six distinct artworks that experiment with the materials, proportions, and methods of constructing institutional display furniture. Euliss asks the viewer to acknowledge the contextual framework of display and reconsider its furniture as a medium that filters our perception of what is contained within.
